The Coach: Glossary A-IAction Plan:
An action plan identifies the purpose and objectives of each task.
Identify:
Assignment:
A specific task that has been given to an employee.
Behavioural Health:
As a result of your review you may determine that the obstacles to performance may relate to behavioural health issues, ie: substance abuse, illness, mental health issues. In such cases, refer the employee to Employee Assistance or the employee's family physician and consult with your organization's Human Resources area for advice and assistance.
Behaviour:
An employee's way of behaving, observable actions or conduct; what they say or do.
Consequence
A result. The effect of an employee's actions. All behavior has consequences. A consequence that increases the frequency of the behavior causing it, is said to "positively reinforce" that behavior.
Disciplinary Action:
Any action that is designed and implemented to correct or modify an employee's behaviour or negative performance that is within his/her control.
Dysfunctional:
Impairing progress.
Employee's Ideas:
Asking for the employee's ideas...
Remember, the problem is the employee's, not yours. By asking for the employee's ideas, you're placing the responsibility for solving the problem squarely on the employee's shoulders.
Feedback:
Clear, objective and constructive statements to another person about how you perceive their behaviour.
